Founded on April 22, 1871 the department was responsible for a city one square mile in size and 3,200 residents, today the department services a city that is over 200 square miles and has over 540,000 residents.

  • Education incentive: Annual Tuition reimbursement & education loan repayment
  • Retirement: Other - TPD is part of the state-managed Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), which offers a defined benefit pension providing roughly 62.5% of a high-5 salary after 25 years of service, alongside supplemental 401(a) match options up to 9% and 457 deferred compensation plans.
